Assistant Hatchery Manager
Salary £27,670 to £30,188 per annum
Due to the current incumbent leaving the Company, a role now exists for an Assistant Hatchery Manager at our Recirculation Unit in Lochailort.
The candidate will assist the manager in the day to day running of the site and deputise in his absence. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working within a freshwater recirculation facility. The recirculation unit will operate with the highest level of biosecurity in order to protect the very large number of fish being produced. The assistant manager will be expected to be fully aware of the importance of this and be actively involved in maintaining these measures.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong knowledge of recirculation processes and the various elements which need to be maintained in order to ensure the correct water quality environment to promote healthy, thriving fish. In addition, they would be expected to demonstrate a good understanding of general hatchery production and all that is involved in farming from egg to smolt. A driving licence is essential. The chosen applicant will be part of a large team so must be self-motivated and have good communication and planning skills. A high degree of computer literacy would be an advantage. The working pattern is any 5 days from 7. In addition, they will be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota and be required to stay on site providing 24-hour call out cover.
