Hatchery Technician

£19,555 to £24,808 per annum  
 
We are looking to recruit a Hatchery Technician to work at the Company’s Inverpolly Hatchery. Mowi covers the whole value and production chain, from feed to plate, and through our vision of leading the “Blue Revolution” we are dedicated to farming the ocean in a responsible and efficient way.  
 
Inverpolly hatchery is a flow through Salmon hatchery located in Wester-Ross in the highlands of Scotland.  The hatchery currently employs 9 full time members of staff to assist in all year-round salmon production.  The site comprises of a hatchery, first feed tanks, grow on tanks, grading and vaccination tunnels and an effluent processing plant.   
 
The position is permanent with a working pattern of any 5 days out of 7 and operates a 1 in 4 weekend rota. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota/ required to stay on site providing 24 hours call out cover. 
 
Roles & Responsibilities 
Fish husbandry of the egg stage to parr production 
Feeding, grading, vaccinating & transportation of live fish  
Proactive approach to Health and safety practices throughout the hatchery  
 
Qualifications  
Previous experience in Salmon production will be an advantage, but not essential as full training and support will be provided.  
High degree of computer literacy is essential. 
Work flexibly to meet demands of the job. 
Self-motivated, able to work well in a large team. 
Good communication & Planning skills.  
Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? We can help you with the cost of lessons.
